ECOWISE is a concept that has been developed by the Ivy family who have been involved in conservation for many years. The ECOWISE adventure has been specifically designed by the Ivys using the advice of teachers and university lecturers, and can be enjoyed by people of all age groups. It is a comprehensive study of the Southern African environment, emphasising the sustainable utilisation of natural resources thus resulting in a well-conserved ecosystem. ECOWISE offers a critical appreciation of the following: wildlife history geography ecosystems man's influence on the environment management principles to ensure sustainable utilisation. Depending on the general interests of each group, tailor-made programs can be arranged to incorporate the following. A stay at IVY SAFARIS Game Ranch: Bush walks to study nature, including trees, grasses, animals, birds and insects. Camping in the open under the stars and listening to night sounds. Cultural excursions: Visiting tribal villages and re-living tribal cultural ways and enjoying tribal dancing. We offer a unique opportunity for school leavers from the ages of 17 upwards to become part of our family and spend some quality time in the bushveld during their gap year or anytime they may need a change of scenery! We are a family-run game safari operation that is becoming increasingly involved with the greater local community in all sorts of exciting projects. This programme is not only reserved for young people, we also encourage people who are between jobs or have just retired and are in need of a change to consider Ivy Safaris. Serving clients in the lodge, taking clients on bushwalks or game drives, assisting in game management, day-to-day maintenance on the ranch, office work and outward bound safaris, helping to build or fix something in the local community or transferring skills or knowledge you may have to these communities and staff. You may also be involved in game culling and processing. What you get out of your stay with us will depend on what you are prepared to put in! One thing is for sure: you will have a new group of friends in Africa!
