Since its inception in 1955 in Pretoria, SNA Civil & Structural Engineers (Pty) Ltd has been involved in all aspects of Civil Engineering and in particular has specialised in Roads Engineering and other Infrastructure related work and all the sub-divisions thereof, including bridges and other related structures. The company has been practising for more than 55 years and has undertaken projects for almost all the State Road Authorities in South Africa as well as for various local authorities and other large private bodies. The company has enjoyed continued growth and the number of personnel exceeds 250 at present, including 47 qualified engineers.The company enjoys modern state of the art computer hardware, software and networking resources, aiding to the optimisation of quality outputs expertise and experience. The principal objective of SNA Civil & Structural Engineers is to achieve and exceed its Client’s specified requirements in the course of the delivery of a professional service by means of value engineering, initiative, technical innovation and excellence, as well as the result of efficient management and professional work. A Management System, in which self-verification and improvements are the goals, will ensure that the policy will be achieved. ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. It applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organisation supplies. It prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met. BEPEC was created in 2008 with the active support and participation of Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA), the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA), and the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS). BEPEC use to be known as the International Business Development Section and was created in response to the globalisation of the consulting engineering sector after the first democratic elections in South Africa. With the inclusion of the Architect and the Quantity Surveying community the Export Council offers a one-stop-shop for international clients who are in the market to employ Built Environment Professionals. BEPEC is a section 21 non-for-profit company who is in a public private partnership with the South African Department of Trade and Industry, who jointly support export ready firms to export their built environment services internationally. What also makes them attractive to clients in Africa and beyond is that while the have an excellent understanding of the special needs of the developing world, the utilise first world processes and operate to its standards. They thus have the required skills and are well equipped to export their services not only to developing countries but also to the most developed nations of the world. Members carry a required level of professional indemnity insurance, which provides clients with financial recourse in the event of non-performance, insufficient design, failure or neglect caused by the engineer. The transformation process completed in the latter part of 2005 on the basis of a Broad Based model for Black Empowerment. This has been carried out by empowering all of its permanent staff and giving them direct Shareholding in the Company.
